Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Quality Engineer will be in charge of developing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures, conducting tests and inspections, identifying production, process or product issues, presenting solutions and leading resolutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Create and implement quality assurance policies, procedures, and monitoring processes to ensure quality of incoming material, production work-in-progress and finished products;
  • Perform quality tests, incoming inspections, and routine inspections to check for defects and non-conformance;
  • Design, plan, conduct and monitor testing and inspection of materials and products to ensure finished product quality;
  • Identify problems, address issues, and actively participate in resolution;
  • Interface and coordinate with Operations and Procurement teams to lead implementation of preventive and corrective actions;
  • Work with suppliers to solve quality issues, prevent reoccurrence and put in place systems to ensure that parts meet requirements (at the supplier).
  • Document quality assurance activities, record root causes and corrective procedures to resolve product non-compliance;
  • Collect and compile quality data. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system;
  • Analyse the performance and conduct audits;
  • Work with Production to set SOP that will ensure quality. Approve changes to SOP;
  • Coordinate RMA activities with other department to ensure full completion and put in place corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Adhere to all WATERAX policies and procedures pursuant to sales administration processes and guidelines;
  • Adhere to WATERAX guidelines and policies in matters of ethics and code of conduct.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an equivalent position;
  • Bilingual spoken and written English and French;
  • Quality inspection, metrology, auditing, and testing experience;
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods;
  • Knowledge of statistics and statistical tools (e.g.; SPC) is an advantage;
  • Certification including Quality Assurance, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing is an advantage;
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite programs, in particular Excel.
